신라는 4세기 중반에 마립간이라는 지배자를 중심으로 고대 국가의 틀을 갖추기 시작했습니다. 마립간과 그 일족은 금·은·금동으로 화려하게 세공을 한 각종 장신구를 걸쳤고, 또 금과 은으로 만든 그릇도 썼습니다. 제2실에서는 신라가 황금의 나라였으며, 지배자들에게 황금은 곧 권력의 상징이었음을 보여줍니다.
